Mirth on Monday: Jeanne Robertson

Saturday night, John and I spent the evening laughing.  We attended a concert by Jeanne Robertson.  She was Miss Congeniality in the Miss America pageant years ago, and it is obvious why.  Before the show started, she came out in the lobby and introduced herself to everyone individually.  She asked us about Willow, and said she would know her show was going well if she heard Willow laughing during the performance.  As we left the theater, we were handed a recipe for pound cake.  Watch the following clip to hear all about the time she sent her husband to the store for the ingredients:

    Either my computer or YouTube is having issues this morning as I couldn't get the video to play. But thanks for trying to share with me! Hope it is a wonderful week.

      Hmm, it's working for me, so I'm not sure what the problem is. You can try going directly the YouTube and searching for Jeanne Robertson. She's really funny!

    I AM SO JEALOUS!!!!!!!! Actually, sinfully jealous. She is a fantastically funny storyteller. I listened to her all the time back before our XM radio broke. You had to have had a great time.

      She tours all over, so maybe you'll get a chance to see her sometime. We hadn't actually ever heard her before--no XM radio in our cars--but saw her show listed in the newspaper and decided to go. So glad we did! She is very funny.

    That clip was hilarious! I've been sitting here, laughing out loud, and my husband's across the room saying "What's so funny?!" Thanks for sharing!

    DID Willow laugh during her performance? I don't know how she couldn't have!

      Willow had her vest on, so I think she didn't realize that laughing was appropriate. She is such a serious worker! :-)

    Thanks so much for sharing this. Love her accent and her story and I think I will be watching all of her stuff on YouTube... Love her style of storytelling!
    I hope Willow enjoyed it too. I know I did!

    Oh my goodness, this was hilarious! But you have to know, I will be talking "Southern" for the rest of the day! I was born and raised in Louisiana, and worked so hard to lose that accent when we moved to OR -- teen years and all; but I can pick it up and run with it at the drop of a hat. I even read some of my Southern blog friends' blogs with a Southern accent. My hubby will sometimes start laughing and ask me which Southern blog I was reading. It can get pretty funny at times!

Ten Things of Thankful: April Showers Edition

  A red peony bud prepares to open fully  After an incredibly dry winter, we had a bit of precipitation this past week, in the form of falling snow. We didn't have much, and it didn't really stick, but we'll take water however it wants to come. Fortunately, my peonies seem unaffected by the cold snap, and are ready to put on a show here soon. 1. I'm thankful for moisture. 2. I'm thankful the flowers are still going to bloom. I don't know how the colder temperatures will affect the fruit crops. The strawberries look like they are still planning to set fruit. We'll have to see what happens with the peach, apricot, pear, and apple. Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? I'm not actually that cool; the last time I strained a muscle it was from carrying too many shopping bags at once.) In any case, I found myself in need of some crutches. I sent my husband to the store to get some. I shouldn't have worried. John came home from Walmart with their generic store brand of crutches, complete with instructions. First, I needed to take out a long bolt that went through the hand grip.
