I Signed Up!

Even though it seems like I have been blogging forever, I'm not exactly cutting-edge when it comes to some blogging-related events.  However, after weeks of hemming and hawing, I've decided to commit to participating in the A to Z Challenge.

It took me a while to come up with a theme, but then the a-ha moment came.  I will be compiling the A to Z of Thankful Me, an alphabet book I can give to my grandchildren.  (By the way, grandchild #3 is on the way!)  The words I choose to highlight will hopefully give them a glimpse of who I am.  It's not quite on the level of the best Christmas present Christine ever gave, but I suppose I could always try again next year, too.  Maybe.  We'll see how this year goes.

Are you participating in the A to Z Challenge?  Are you a new participant, or an old pro?

  6. hey! blog-challenge-mates! Thanks for mentioning the 'reveal' thing... I'd thought about it, but kept coming up against... 'yeah, like anyone is going to be surprised' about my own theme. lol
I have started pre-picking words, but am trying to not get to much into that... trusting that if I treat it like any other post, then things will be as they should.

  8. Congrats on grandbaby nr. 3!!
I'm looking forward on your Challenge-blogs. I'm not much of a challenge-type-of-blogger and probably couldn't make it through a whole month of consistant blogging..... I don't even know in which category my blog would fall.... Have a good friday and weekend. How's John doing on the car by the way?! Would love to see the progress he is making with it. (Yep, I'm a car-loving-kind-of-girl...) xxx

    1. I didn't even pick a category (it was optional). My posts will be super short, because really, who wants a novel-sized ABC book? I have the words all written (with the exception of the weekly Ten Things of Thankful that I will add to Saturday posts); I'm just finding photos now to accompany the posts.

As for the car. . . John hasn't had as much free time as he did when we first got the car, so the progress has been minimal. The nice thing is, it's not going anywhere, so it will be there when he doesn't have so many commitments! :-)

Ten Things of Thankful: Autumn Edition

It's autumn time, one of my favorite times of year.  I just couldn't leave this weekend as a one-post weekend.

Ten Things of Thankful: Last Two Weeks

Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park, as viewed from an overlook I apologize for not commenting on your blog posts this past week; John and I took a vacation to Yellowstone National Park, leaving behind our computers and, to a large extent, cell phone service. We escaped the outside world and just spent time in nature. Though we have friends near Yellowstone (who we love to visit) we made this trip just about us, so please forgive us if we were nearby and didn't stop by. The crowds were minimal (though we did mask up whenever we passed someone on the trails) and we spent our days hiking, taking photos, and watching geysers erupt. Today, we are back home and back to work, and, in the case of my computer, back to old shenanigans like not letting me import my photos. (I was able to add the above photo by using blogger on my phone, but that isn't my preferred method.) I want to write about Yellowstone and have photos I want to share, but will leave that for another

Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? I'm not actually that cool; the last time I strained a muscle it was from carrying too many shopping bags at once.) In any case, I found myself in need of some crutches. I sent my husband to the store to get some. Photo: A pair of crutches leans against a wall  Not that crutches are all that complex, but because I hadn't used any before, I wondered if I could figure out how to adjust them to fit me properly. I shouldn't have worried. John came home from Walmart with their generic store brand of crutches, complete with instructions. First, I needed to take out a long bolt that went through the hand grip. Then I needed to find my height range, push down two metal pieces, and slide the crutches until the little metal pieces came up in the hole near my height range. (Having two people for this
