Thursday Thoughts: Does the Easter Bunny Have Helpers?

Getting the Sunday newspaper is normally an uneventful experience, but one Easter Sunday John was greeted by a surprise when he stepped outside.  When he came inside, he told me that the Easter Bunny had come during the night.  Now, John and I usually know when the Easter Bunny come, so this was not exactly news to me.  When I didn't react as he expected, he said with emphasis, "No, really! The Easter Bunny came.  Come see!"

The Easter Bunny usually hides eggs inside our house, but this particular year, our front yard was covered with plastic, (wrapped) candy-filled eggs.  John and I were as delighted as the kids.  We made sure to share our surprise with everyone at church that day, hoping that the Easter Bunny would somehow hear our thanks.

Often at Christmastime, families involve their children in acts of serviceThe year the Easter Bunny came made me realize that Easter is also a great time to have traditions of service.

What Easter traditions do you have?

Thanks for Jesus Christ, who set the greatest example of service.

  3. What a lovely surprise. Have you found out who did this???
We don't have real traditions. Very few at all as a matter of fact. Maybe because we don't have children, we never developed traditions of our own. At my parents place we had an Easter Breakfast with jummy bread and lots of eggs, but nothing real fancy. When my brother and sister were small kids, I use to paint eggs with them, but that was about it.
Now as an adult I have a pre-Easter tradition and I did it today; Go to the performance of "the Crucifixion" by my moms choir. Beautifully Breathtaking. This time both my sister joint me - for the very first time. Usually my mother in law would join me, but she doesn't want to go out much anymore.
This year Henks' birthday is on Easter day, so we'll have a nice day anyway!

  4. awwww - what a fun surprise and I'm sure your kids LOVED it. I'm sure it was equally as fun for the little "Easter Bunny" helpers, whoever they were.

  5. How sweet! My grandkids and I enjoy the Easter Resurrection eggs during the weeks leading up to Easter (when there is more peace, quiet, and time :) ). Then they have a fun outside egg hunt courtesy of those who shall remain nameless. :) A fun time for all and plenty of rejoicing in the precious gift of our Lord and Savior.

  7. What a nice thing for someone to do! I will keep that in mind once the kids grow up and we have a bit more time on Easter morning.
We never seem to do the same thing twice, although for the past two years we have made a fire in the fire pit and roasted Peeps. It is the only holiday on which we stay home and go to our own church, so it is always special for that reason alone.

  8. It seems we don't have any particular traditions for Easter. Each year is a little different. But the Easter Bunny does get some help; in fact the UPS truck just delivered my order of Lollipop Seeds for the kids. They loved them last year and asked me to order for this year too ;) Thanks for linking with me!

Ten Things of Thankful: Autumn Edition

It's autumn time, one of my favorite times of year.  I just couldn't leave this weekend as a one-post weekend.

Ten Things of Thankful: Last Two Weeks

Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park, as viewed from an overlook I apologize for not commenting on your blog posts this past week; John and I took a vacation to Yellowstone National Park, leaving behind our computers and, to a large extent, cell phone service. We escaped the outside world and just spent time in nature. Though we have friends near Yellowstone (who we love to visit) we made this trip just about us, so please forgive us if we were nearby and didn't stop by. The crowds were minimal (though we did mask up whenever we passed someone on the trails) and we spent our days hiking, taking photos, and watching geysers erupt. Today, we are back home and back to work, and, in the case of my computer, back to old shenanigans like not letting me import my photos. (I was able to add the above photo by using blogger on my phone, but that isn't my preferred method.) I want to write about Yellowstone and have photos I want to share, but will leave that for another

Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? I'm not actually that cool; the last time I strained a muscle it was from carrying too many shopping bags at once.) In any case, I found myself in need of some crutches. I sent my husband to the store to get some. Photo: A pair of crutches leans against a wall  Not that crutches are all that complex, but because I hadn't used any before, I wondered if I could figure out how to adjust them to fit me properly. I shouldn't have worried. John came home from Walmart with their generic store brand of crutches, complete with instructions. First, I needed to take out a long bolt that went through the hand grip. Then I needed to find my height range, push down two metal pieces, and slide the crutches until the little metal pieces came up in the hole near my height range. (Having two people for this
