Thursday Thoughts: Woolzies Giveaway

Have you ever learned a new word, then noticed it in practically every conversation you had and article you read?  Recently I had the same experience, except instead of new vocabulary, I learned a new laundry method.

One of my facebook friends posted her surprise in a laundry care label which mentioned drying the item with tennis balls.  Then I read an article which also suggested tennis balls in the dryer, to fluff the clothing and speed up the drying time.  I considered purchasing tennis balls, but then I learned of an even better solution:  Woolzies.

Woolzies are simply balls of wool, which, when added to the dryer, help eliminate static and also decrease the time required in the dryer.  The Woolzies company recently sent me a box of Woolzies to try.  With the plumbing problems I've had--both we and the plumbers are really hoping that the project is finished today!--I haven't been able to do a thorough job of testing, but I have used the balls for two small, hand-washed loads.  Both loads dried quickly and without static cling.  I thought that perhaps the dryer would be especially noisy, but it really wasn't.

Even the packaging makes me smile.


I like the fact that Woolzies are a chemical-free alternative to fabric softener sheets, and I'm looking forward to using these all-natural wool balls for many loads to come.  (The information sheet sent with them says they will last for 1000 loads!)

    I've never heard of these! But the sound very good! Even with dryer sheets, there is so much static in our air right now, everything sticks together! lol Maybe this is the solution for that winter static frenzy!

    Our dryer takes twice as long to dry the clothes as our washer takes to wash them. Pick me! Pick me! Oh, I can't wait for warmer weather, when I can get my clothes back outside on the line where they belong.

    Sounds like a great alternative to dryer sheets. I don't like the smell and the ones which are scentless don't really do a very good job.

    After a learning curve experience with my google accounts, I am finally here to comment. These look interesting, and I anxious to see how well they work. Anything to cut down the drying time works for me!

Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? What a Wonderful World! (An #AtoZChallenge Post): Z is for Zion National Park

My #AtoZChallenge posts this year will explore our adventures--some pre-retirement, some post. Today's location: Zion National Park in Utah.  Zion is a bit of a shibboleth. People from outside of Utah (or those who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) tend to pronounce Zion as "ZIE-on." Locals (or tourists who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) use more of a schwa sound, pronouncing Zion to rhyme with lion. However you choose to pronounce it, it is an amazing, beautiful national park and has some amazing hikes. The last time my husband and I visited Zion National Park, we entered from the east, and traveled through the mile-long Zion-Mt. Carmel tunnel. It is an engineering marvel, completed in the 1920s.
