Monday Morning in the Kitchen: Peach Basil Smoothie

Summer has arrived, bringing with it yummy stone fruits.  Some of the fruit in my produce box on Saturday was a bit bruised.  I decided to use it up right away in this delicious smoothie.


 
Peach Basil Smoothie

Fill a blender jar with chunks of fresh peach, a couple of cups of water, and some fresh basil springs.  Liquify, then pour half or more of the mixture into a pitcher.  Add to the blender jar: one banana, one avocado, a cup or two of frozen mixed berries, and a bit more water.  Liquify, then add to the pitcher.  Stir well and enjoy!

  4. This is the second thing I've seen with peach and basil in it recently. That means I'm going to have to try out this flavor combo!!

Ten Things of Thankful: Harvest Time Edition

  A harvest of beets, carrots, potatoes, and onions  Although I have come to love summer once again, I have always loved fall. As a child, I loved the excitement of back-to-school time. There was something so satisfying about checking off the required school supplies from the list, and the new clothes and shoes were waiting so patiently for the first day to arrive, so I could wear them. The air developed a crisp coolness, and soon it would be the holiday season.  I don't have new school supplies, nor do I have a new outfit in my closet, but I still love autumn. As an adult, September brings harvest time. I have been enjoying the bounty of the garden, and am taking mental note of what worked and what didn't, in preparation for next planting season.
