Every day, his older sisters ventured into the big brick school building, to do who-knows-what. The outdoor playground equipment looked like fun, but he had no idea what happened inside the classroom. His turn would come in the fall, but kindergarten was a mystery. Fortunately, his sisters had experience. Unfortunately, the current kindergartener's description did nothing to ease his fears:
"Math is really hard because no one tells you the answer and you just have to guess a number."
Math was never my strong suit. My brothers and sisters excelled at it and were always helpful. But I am sure they were amazed at how I could learn most anything else but floundered at algebra.

Teaching a subject has a way of cementing it, doesn't it?
DeleteFunny, just this morning i was remembering a real happening at our home when i and my younger brother were being dropped off at school. Youngest brother, still too young to attend, snuck out of the car (no car seats then) and was brought back by an adult who saw him wandering aimlessly and crying, "I want to go to school!"

DeleteAh the dreaded subject of math. I was fine with the basics but got lost as soon as algebra was introduced.

DeleteOh, that would be me, lol. Fear! When you're in kindergarten, school is such a huge mystery. Can honestly say I was not in a hurry to get to first grade :D

DeleteAt least he has taken the first step of kindergarten instead of running hysterically away. The mystery's of the inner sanctum will be revealed in due course.
