Tuesday Travels: Springville Antique Mall

Whenever I feel like shopping for something unique, or just want to go window-shopping, the Springville Antique Mall in Springville, Utah, is one of my go-to stores. It has two big buildings packed with anything you can imagine, plus a large outdoor area filled with planters, patio furniture, tools, and tons of items that probably were found in an old barn. (I seriously considered buying dinosaur "footprints" to use as stepping stones in my backyard.)

Although I have purchased several much-loved items from the Springville Antique Mall, some of my favorite finds aren't for sale. I absolutely love signs that scream, "Welcome to Utah! You aren't in California anymore!" For example, the sign above taught me that earrings can be made out of antlers. Who knew? And apparently they are popular enough that there is no need for a discounted price.

 Even better than the antler earrings sign, though, is the sign that begs, "PLEASE test all BB Guns outside! Thank you :-)" It makes me laugh for so many different reasons. Is the seller looking for someone to test all the BB guns, or (as I suspect) are potential buyers advised to not fire inside the store? Would anyone really need to be told that BB guns are for outdoor use only? 

The politeness of the sign, and especially the smiley face, are so quintessential Utahn in nature. People are so friendly here. I hope I can maintain a bit of an "outsider's" view, so I can continue to find delight in similar observations.

    The fact that there is a sign to tell people NOT to test the BB guns inside, tells me there was once someone who DID test the BB gun inside.... I can see that happening...
    I love signs like that, they crack me up when envisioning why they had to put them up.

    Unfortunately, "Substandard Roadway" signs come to mind down here, they are all too common.

      I haven't seen that sign before, but I have traveled on roads that deserved one!
