A Dose of Deedee, Day Two

As a Richard Scarry story begins, "It is the morning of a new day." Deedee's learning continues.  
The day started around 6 with the obligatory "Do your business" time.  While we were in the back yard, Deedee couldn't help but notice the sound coming from the nearby field.  Apparently there is a new litter of coyotes.

That new noise was followed a sound from the front of the house.  I held Deedee in my arms and opened the front door, so she could see and hear the garbage trucks.  Oh, there is so much for a guide dog puppy to become accustomed to!

 Deedee's insights today:

  • Apparently the "swimming pool" is merely a water dish--at least that's what Kristi said when I tried to go for a dip.
  • Before I can eat, Kristi says, "Wait."  When I stop trying to lunge for the food, she says, "OK," and allows me to eat.  I love to eat, but I'm not a pig about it.  

  • Kristi says I've scored brownie points (whatever those are) because I slept through the night.  
  • Drexel is a bit of an old fuddy-duddy.  He'll play with me when he wants to, but not everytime I want to.  He just doesn't realize what a wonderful toy his tail is!

    I love the Deedee's insights part of these posts. When you mentioned the sound at the front of the house, I thought perhaps it was the full grown coyote. LOL

      No,I wouldn't open my front door and introduce Deedee to a real coyote! :-)

    Poor Drexel! His world has been rocked! I hope his tail came out of it relatively unscathed.
    The sound of those coyote pups is creepy

      He's usually fairly playful himself, but he's pretty much just avoiding her right now. Once she isn't so nippy with him, I think he'll have more fun with her.
      I don't mind the sound of the coyote pups learning to howl. What is horrible is hearing the coyotes getting a cat for dinner. Most people I know keep their cats and small dogs inside at night. (Of course, we keep our big dogs in, too.)

Ten Things of Thankful: April Showers Edition

  A red peony bud prepares to open fully  After an incredibly dry winter, we had a bit of precipitation this past week, in the form of falling snow. We didn't have much, and it didn't really stick, but we'll take water however it wants to come. Fortunately, my peonies seem unaffected by the cold snap, and are ready to put on a show here soon. 1. I'm thankful for moisture. 2. I'm thankful the flowers are still going to bloom. I don't know how the colder temperatures will affect the fruit crops. Tuesday Time to Tackle: DIY Swamp Cooler Pump Replacement

Yesterday morning, despite having the swamp cooler on all night long, we woke up to 81 degree temperatures inside the house.  John went outside to inspect and announced that the swamp cooler pump had stopped working. Fortunately, replacing the pump is a quick and simple do-it-yourself project.
