I "met" Kristi of Finding Ninee through the Ten Things of Thankful blog hop. I immediately liked her--we shared a name, after all! I found her to be compassionate and determined in her role as mom to Tucker. I knew about her Finish the Sentence Fridays, but I don't know why I haven't joined in before now. When I saw today's prompt, though, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about.

The world really needs more strong families. As the basic unit of society, families determine the outcome of nations. Many of the ills of the world could be prevented and/or alleviated through functional, supportive families.

The Family: A Proclamation to the World was written 20 years ago. At the time, I did not find the proclamation controversial. Now, there are loud voices opposing the ideas presented in that document. I respect the right of others to disagree, but I also stand in firm support of The Family: A Proclamation to the World.
As families make families a priority, harmony and love increase. Of course, children and parents are not perfect, and there will always be room for improvement, but when diligent effort is given to strengthening families, blessings will follow.

I love that quote above. One simple act might not seem like much, but when taken over and over again, the cumulative effect can be beautiful.

And now, it's time for me to go spend time with my family. Won't you go do something with yours, too?

Thanks for families!
Hi Kristi: welcome to FTSF! I absolutely agree about the importance of families! I blog a lot about children's health habits, and the biggest determining factor in great kid's health habits is having a strong family environment. Families come in all shapes and sizes, but if the result is warm and supportive then all kinds of really good things happen!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the welcome! I can tell I was preaching to the choir! :-)
DeleteWhat a simple but powerful reminder. Now to sign off and spend time with my family. Thank you so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGlad you stopped by! :-)
DeleteWell said, Kristi.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteSo so glad that you joined Finish the Sentence Friday this week, Kristi! Yay! And yes - family. It's so important!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why I haven't joined in earlier. I'll try to join in again soon.
DeleteAh.... love every BIT of this message Kristi!!! AMEN girl!!! Thank you for this important reminder and inspiration. <3
ReplyDeleteThanks! :-)
DeleteOh I sure hope you don't have a zillion responses from me. Having trouble on my phone. Anywho, just saying hi and that I am grateful for my busy family and the fact that I live in the time of social media. One quick text to my away at college 19 and 21 year-olds and I get an instant answer back. Love that. I write a fair bit about them and my busier than me 92 year-old mom. So grateful for family.
ReplyDeleteNo, just one response. I understand what you mean, though--my comments often show up in triplicate, or not at all! I can't make sense of it. I'll have to go visit your blog. Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteI'm with you on this one. Family is so important, such a key foundation. I do think that family can come in many sizes, shapes, etc. and whatever we call family that works for us is great. But yes a thousand times to this. Yay to seeing you in the FTSF hop!
ReplyDeleteStrengthen families, strengthen society. :-)
DeleteComments seem to be acting up everywhere! I am sure I left a comment yesterday. Just wanted to say you hit it right on the head -- a strong family makes all the difference. Great post.
