Tuesday Time to Tackle: If You Give a Guy Some Storage Shelves

If you give a guy some storage shelves, he's going to want to put them in the garage.

In order for them to fit in the garage, he'll want to move the freezer.

In order to move the freezer, he'll need to empty the contents.

In order to empty the contents, he'll need to fill the coolers.

In order to get the freezer through the door, he'll need to take the door off the hinges.

Once the freezer is in its new spot, it will need to be refilled.  The guy will need to bring the coolers back to the freezer.

He'll put the door back on its hinges.

Once the freezer is in its new spot, and the door is back on its hinges, the guy can start assembling the shelves.

When the first shelf is put together, the guy will want to put it against the wall.

When he sees where it needs to go, he'll realize he needs to clear a spot for it. He'll get the dolly and move stuff out of the way.

When the floor in that spot is clear, he'll put the shelf against the wall.

He'll want to set up the second shelf.  And chances are, if he wants to set up the second shelf, he's going to want a clear spot to put it in.

  1. I SOOO identify with this. I get paralyzed just thinking about the logistics to accomplish some of my projects. Thanks for a good chuckle.

    1. Oh, thank you! It felt like we still had a whole cow's worth of meals--there was no way that freezer was budging an inch without us first unloading the weight of the food.

  5. Awesome! Here's a major difference between your mouse and mine; my mouse would have abandoned the whole thing halfway through and there would have shelves in the middle of the floor with all the stuff he was clearing out in heaps around it, and he would be sitting in the living room eating a cookie.

    1. LOL. We're not completely done with all the organizing, but the shelves are up and the floor is cleaner than it's been in years!

Six Sentence Story: Twist

An antique typewriter Each week, Denise at Girlie on the Edge blog posts a prompt word and invites bloggers to come up with a Six Sentence Story. It's a fun challenge for writers, and a delight for readers. Go over to her blog to read what others have written, and feel free to post your own story, too! This week's prompt: twist. ********************************* The kids who moved in next door were big kids--much older than her 3-year-old self--but they might be fun to play with, and as they were coming towards her, the idea of them being new friends seemed at least possible. She was rather shy, but she understood the basics of making friends, so when those neighbors crowded all around her and asked her what her name was, she didn't hesitate to answer.  She thought she had spoken loudly enough, but apparently her shyness got the best of her, because they didn't seem to have heard her.  "Twisty?" they asked, and recognizing she needed to be even louder, she ...

Ten Things of Thankful: Lovely Autumn

I've mentioned before, but it bears repeating, that I love fall.  This week I noticed the following:

Ten Things of Thankful: Valentine's Day is in Spring Edition

Despite what the groundhog predicted, here in my neck of the woods we have been enjoying balmy weather.  I think the nation needs a west coast groundhog to provide the local forecast.  I've spent time in my backyard this week, pruning palms and roses, pulling weeds, and planting raspberries and lilacs.  For those of you still buried in snow, I offer a hopeful glimpse of weather to come:
