Ten Things of Thankful: Youngest Daughter Edition

My youngest daughter's birthday is coming up soon.  I gave her a choice:  either she would let me say all sorts of wonderful things about her on my TToT post, or she would write her TToT for me to post on my blog.  I'm a mean mom that way. 



Not surprisingly for those of us who know her, she elected to write a post, rather than allow me to talk about her on my blog. 

My daughter's Ten Things of Thankful:

1.  I'm thankful for mothers, who give birth to beautiful children of God.

2.  I'm thankful for the sky that it gives me light each and every day.


3.  I'm thankful for the rain as it kisses me to the touch, and warms me to the soul.

4.  I'm thankful for clay, when miracle fingers collide they transform it into something like a goddess.

5.  I'm thankful for time.  Time goes by whether you like it or not.  Spend that time doing something fantastic!

6.   I'm thankful for the sun.  It just feels like Jesus is giving you a great big hug.



7.  I'm thankful for music; without it I would die.

8.  I'm thankful for life.

9.  I'm thankful for fantasy; without it all would be lost.

10.  I'm thankful for reality.

Kristi here again:  I'm biting my tongue, wishing I could add background stories and relate proud moments.  I love my daughter and hope she has a wonderful birthday!

    I wanted to add some photos of her, too, but she nixed that idea. (That second photo was taken in Hawaii, as we watched the sunrise on Haleakala in Maui. What a memorable event!)

    My daughter's creative side never fails to awe me. From the time she was little, I knew that she would be introducing me to another way of looking at life. Poetry, art, and music come easily to her. I play music if I have written music to read; she plays if she has the music in her heart. What a talent!

    wow what a poetic addition to the TToT... does she hire out? I don't think the guards would object but we could make up a rule if necessary...oh here it is!!! Rule 76.98 subsection 4b says you can ask a particularly poetic relation of another hostini to write in your stead if said relation is truly of a scholarly nature and willing to do so for a nominal fee. ahem. NO really its says that!

    This is such a great list! I especially like the juxtaposition of the last two! I'm a huge fan of fantasy books, and it's nice to come back to real life! Well done.

      I try to be sensitive to my kids' feelings; and they each have varying levels of comfort when it comes to what I share on my blog. Youngest daughter doesn't really enjoy being in the limelight.

    Oh how beautiful this list is to read!!! I absolutely love your daughter's perspective...what a gorgeous heart and faithful soul she seems to have... I would be a proud mama indeed!!

    I had my daughter vlog hers... isn't that interesting? WOW!

Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? I'm not actually that cool; the last time I strained a muscle it was from carrying too many shopping bags at once.) In any case, I found myself in need of some crutches. I sent my husband to the store to get some. What a Wonderful World! (An #AtoZChallenge Post): Z is for Zion National Park

  Visitor Center sign in Zion National Park My husband recently re-retired, and we are front-loading travel. My #AtoZChallenge posts this year will explore our adventures--some pre-retirement, some post. Today's location: Zion National Park in Utah.  Zion is a bit of a shibboleth. People from outside of Utah (or those who are not members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) tend to pronounce Zion as "ZIE-on." Locals (or tourists who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) use more of a schwa sound, pronouncing Zion to rhyme with lion. However you choose to pronounce it, it is an amazing, beautiful national park and has some amazing hikes. The last time my husband and I visited Zion National Park, we entered from the east, and traveled through the mile-long Zion-Mt. Carmel tunnel. It is an engineering marvel, completed in the 1920s. Before we passed through the tunnel, though, we spotted a group of bighorn sheep, including some babies...
