Thursday Thoughts: The Latest, Greatest Blogging Tool

After last week's post, which proved that I'm just a bit out of touch with technology, my son gave me this idea for a blog post.  I told him I'd use it.


Are you tired of misplacing your quill or finding an empty ink well?  Fortunately, the latest invention--the "typewriter"--will put an end to those frustrations.  With a simple touch of a button, letters will appear on paper.  Lines advance with a quick push of the return bar.  A cheery "ding" accompanies the motion.

Typewriters will make blogging so easy!  Whenever an idea pops into mind, just sit down and start typing.   With any luck, someone will soon invent something to correct mistakes.

    I learned to use one from my stenographer granddad. Used to waste a lot of typing ribbon! Miss them, really.

    There was nothing but manual typewriters in my high school typing class. Each mistake on speed test took 5 wpm off your total, so I wound up typing negative words per minute. Dropped the class at semester when the teacher started talking about carbon paper.

    I used to love, love, love my old typewriter! I can't believe how far I've seen technology change and I imagine I still will!

    I've still got my first typwriter, bought from my brother when I was 14 (I'm nearly 52 now), and it still works!
    My Silver Reed is as precious to me as a writer as anything I can think of, and is always there, even if the electric goes! Lol

    Too funny! My daughter/family were having corn on the cob for dinner; she got to the end of the cob and said,"ding"! And her kids just looked at her like huh??? They had no idea what she was talking/teasing about! Time flys!

Ten Things of Thankful: April Showers Edition

  A red peony bud prepares to open fully  After an incredibly dry winter, we had a bit of precipitation this past week, in the form of falling snow. We didn't have much, and it didn't really stick, but we'll take water however it wants to come. Fortunately, my peonies seem unaffected by the cold snap, and are ready to put on a show here soon. 1. I'm thankful for moisture. 2. I'm thankful the flowers are still going to bloom. I don't know how the colder temperatures will affect the fruit crops. The strawberries look like they are still planning to set fruit. We'll have to see what happens with the peach, apricot, pear, and apple. Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? I'm not actually that cool; the last time I strained a muscle it was from carrying too many shopping bags at once.) In any case, I found myself in need of some crutches. I sent my husband to the store to get some. I shouldn't have worried. John came home from Walmart with their generic store brand of crutches, complete with instructions. First, I needed to take out a long bolt that went through the hand grip.
