Photo Blogging Challenge: Closeup


When I read about October's Photo Blogging Challenge theme--"closeup"--I went no further than my own backyard for inspiration.
Fortunately, the roses are putting on a last-minute show before colder weather sets in.  I didn't use any fancy equipment, so the photos are not as closeup as they could be, but I had fun with the challenge.

    Lovely photos. No outdoor flowers in my area for another seven months.

      I have a friend who said her daffodils are coming up! I think the flowers are confused by the rains and warm temperatures.

    So many roses! That's one thing we don't have growing here on our property.

    And now I have a visual of a rose hip to go with your explanation from a few weeks ago. :)

    I love the rose hip photo! It is definitely my favourite as it has such great texture, colours and composition!

      Had I been taking photos while I was doing yardwork this morning, I would have taken pictures of tumbleweeds and lizards! I guess if I zoom in enough, the desert looks like an oasis! :-)

    Hi Kristi, finally been able to read up on your blog for the past week posts. I love, adore! your Deedee-pup. I hope Drexel loves her too? It must be such a delight to have a pup around, although she must be a hand full too...
    We're finally installed in our new house and more or less in order. Still lots of boxes unpacked and rooms to be tidied, but it already feels like home to us. The kitties don't totally agree though, but I hope they will soon.
    Keep those adorable pics coming from your black beauty and I will try to keep up with the updates, in between painting and unpacking and making a house to a home.

      Drexel is adapting. He loves to play, but he also isn't keen on being chewed on. Deedee still is learning that her little puppy teeth are SHARP!

    What a treat to find another post with backyard flowers as the main subject. We had lots of bees still buzzing about in October, but with the first snow falling today, I hope they're safely hibernating now. I've seen plenty of roses before, but nothing like those blue potato flowers. Very interesting to me.

    The close ups are excellent! Love the colors. The first one has the look/feel of a sunflower as well. Love the purple on the last one. Flowers really are great photo subjects, aren't they?

Ten Things of Thankful: Oregon Edition, Part 3

  A western bluebird, sitting at the base of a house window, looks inside Thanks (1) to those who have sent well-wishes for my mom's recovery. Her wrist is healing up nicely. I met a friend from high school for lunch this past week. It was so nice to have a chance to visit with her for a couple of hours. She is one of those friends who it doesn't matter how much time has passed, we can pick right back up into meaningful conversations. Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? I'm not actually that cool; the last time I strained a muscle it was from carrying too many shopping bags at once.) In any case, I found myself in need of some crutches. I sent my husband to the store to get some.
