October Visiting Teaching Message

This month's visiting teaching message topic is one of my favorites. It's really the heart of the gospel, the driving force behind everything.  When Jesus Christ was asked, "Master, which is the great commandment in the law?" he answered, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." (Matthew 22: 36-39)

 This month's topic is charity and love as a divine attribute of Jesus Christ.  Charity is the pure love of Christ.  

We are taught in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon that charity is the greatest of all.  1 Corinthians 13:13 says:
 13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
 Moroni 7:46-47 supports Paul's writings: 
 46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—
 47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.
 As we remember Christ, as we cleave unto His love, we will be granted a portion of that love, and will be able to start to feel that love for others.  

 Can you imagine what the world would be like if everyone's actions were driven by pure love?

    Thanks for sharing. Charity has been on my mind lately. I am trying to find ways to use my talents for Him.

      I believe that as we make conscious efforts to use our talents in His work, we are led to opportunities to do just that.

    I know this isn't your official thankful post but yes, I can imagine what the world would be like if everybody's actions were driven by love and it breaks my heart over and over that it's not the case already. It also makes me know that we can do something about that. No matter our background, religion, pain, culture, economic status, any of it. We can. We are. You are, by posting this reminder.

    It really saddens me that so few people will even go as far as to return a smile. The world be such a wonderful place if we could all just love one another -- or at the least be nice! I keep hoping!

Ten Things of Thankful: Valentine's Day is in Spring Edition
