Ten Things of Thankful: Very Short, Hopefully Sweet Edition

I'm writing this from a hotel in St. George, Utah.  Tomorrow I arrive in Provo for Education Week at Brigham Young University. 
I'm thankful for:
1.  Oldest son--he is great about keeping in touch.
2.  Oldest daughter--she is always up for a Disneyland trip.

3.  Middle daughter--she's grown up so much being a mom.
4.  Youngest son--I've loved having him home this summer.

5.  Youngest daughter--my travel companion this week for BYU Education Week.
6.  Drexel--goofy dog amuses me.

7.  Working transportation.
8.  Working a/c and CD player in #7.
9.  A pillow that is calling my name.
10.  John--master of foam aviator hats, holder-downer of the fort, and supporter of my travels.

    I thought about you today. Praying for safe travels. Yes, AC traveling where you were would have been a necessity, so I'm glad it was working! I love John's hat!

    Sweet hat! I recently put our crates away to free up floor space, but the dogs did enjoy having their own little corner when they were out. Once Louie was followed in by a cat we used to have. The cat was notorious for his somewhat cranky disposition. Poor Louie was afraid to pass the cat to come out and had to cry until I came and shooed the cat away.

    John in his aviator hat is the best thing I've seen in a coon's age! LOVE it! And Drexel; always love Drexel. Looks like a pretty fine family!

    Short and sweet is awesome. And I have to say that you could be your son's sister - you do NOT look old enough to have a son that age. :)

    A very lovely list indeed. Love goofy dogs and John's hat. It reminds me of Carl in "Up"....
    Is this a costume coming "up"? (Great movie, sadest first 10 minutes / love story)

Ten Things of Thankful: Last Two Weeks

  Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone National Park, as viewed from an overlook I apologize for not commenting on your blog posts this past week; John and I took a vacation to Yellowstone National Park, leaving behind our computers and, to a large extent, cell phone service. We escaped the outside world and just spent time in nature. Though we have friends near Yellowstone (who we love to visit) we made this trip just about us, so please forgive us if we were nearby and didn't stop by. Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? I'm not actually that cool; the last time I strained a muscle it was from carrying too many shopping bags at once.) In any case, I found myself in need of some crutches. I sent my husband to the store to get some. Photo: A pair of crutches leans against a wall  Not that crutches are all that complex, but because I hadn't used any before, I wondered if I could figure out how to adjust them to fit me properly. I shouldn't have worried. John came home from Walmart with their generic store brand of crutches, complete with instructions. First, I needed to take out a long bolt that went through the hand grip. Then I needed to find my height range, push down two metal pieces, and slide the crutches until the little metal pieces came up in the hole near my height range. (Having two people for this...
