Tuesday Time to Tackle: Take Time to Laugh!

With my sister's permission, I share the following conversation she had recently with her youngest child:

Child: Mom, can I have a trained weasel for a pet?
Mom: Not as long as you live in my house.
Child: But if it were a trained circus weasel, it could do tricks. That's the only way I can earn any money.
Mom: That's the only way you can think of to earn money?
Child: Yes. We don't have any lemonade.
I have laughed so much since hearing this!  I even related this conversation to someone in my dream the other night.

Did you ever have a lemonade stand as a kid?  Or did you earn money with trained circus weasels?

  2. Too funny!

No on both counts: I lived in the country so both ventures would have been unprofitable.

  3. That's adorable!
For my sisters and I it was neither lemonade nor weasels. I don't know what possessed us, but one summer day we filled a small box, decorated it with crayoned flowers and rang the doorbell of a sweet elderly neighbor lady. "Would you like to buy some dirt?" we asked her! How embarrassing! She politely declined and we went home, not even giving it a "one" on the "weirdness scale!"

  4. Very Funny ...they way kids come out with things...we had a Kool Aid but we drink more than sell it... :)

  5. Can't say I did either, but my Husband and I have a similar conversation every time he suggests getting a ferret for a pet. How funny!

  6. The mind of a child! It is just a wonderful thing! LOTS of lemonade stands in my childhood but no weasels!

  7. Does a Ferret count? :)
My daughter always loved to teach our ferrets tricks, though whether it was to earn money, or as training for when she herself joined the circus crowd, I'm not sure - but I do love the idea of a trained weasel :)

Conversations are so much nicer when more than one person does the talking. :-) Please leave a comment and let me know your thoughts; I'd love to hear from you!

Six Sentence Story: Twist

An antique typewriter Each week, Denise at Girlie on the Edge blog posts a prompt word and invites bloggers to come up with a Six Sentence Story. It's a fun challenge for writers, and a delight for readers. Go over to her blog to read what others have written, and feel free to post your own story, too! This week's prompt: twist. ********************************* The kids who moved in next door were big kids--much older than her 3-year-old self--but they might be fun to play with, and as they were coming towards her, the idea of them being new friends seemed at least possible. She was rather shy, but she understood the basics of making friends, so when those neighbors crowded all around her and asked her what her name was, she didn't hesitate to answer.  She thought she had spoken loudly enough, but apparently her shyness got the best of her, because they didn't seem to have heard her.  "Twisty?" they asked, and recognizing she needed to be even louder, she ...

Ten Things of Thankful: Lovely Autumn

I've mentioned before, but it bears repeating, that I love fall.  This week I noticed the following:

Ten Things of Thankful: Valentine's Day is in Spring Edition

Despite what the groundhog predicted, here in my neck of the woods we have been enjoying balmy weather.  I think the nation needs a west coast groundhog to provide the local forecast.  I've spent time in my backyard this week, pruning palms and roses, pulling weeds, and planting raspberries and lilacs.  For those of you still buried in snow, I offer a hopeful glimpse of weather to come:
