Ten Things of Thankful: Finding a Groove Edition

Isn't it funny that getting stuck in a rut is a bad thing, but finding a groove is positive? As far as blogging goes, I think I've been stuck in a rut for a long time, but recently I'm starting to get back into a regular blogging groove. I'm excited to explore new ideas and hope I can provide interesting, positive content. 

 Speaking of positive content, thanks to founder Lizzi, each week the Ten Things of Thankful community gathers online to share those things that each member is thankful for. We are a diverse group of people from all over the world, yet we are connected through our expressions of thanks. I hope you will join us!

 1. I'm thankful for the tool of technology. 

 2. I'm thankful for those who understand how to fix technical difficulties. (Calling tech support is on my to-do list; I trust I'll be able to get some help.)

 3. I'm thankful for the participants of the TToT. It's not always easy to compose and publish a post, yet people come back, week after week. The specific participants may change over time, but the door is always open and I'm thankful to all who have ever joined us.

 4. I'm thankful for blocks of time that have allowed me to compose and schedule posts. Blogging is more enjoyable without the pressure of a (albeit self-imposed) deadline. 

 5. I'm thankful for a return to daily (M-F) posting. A groove is much nicer than a rut.

 6. I'm thankful for the opportunity to attend a social media convention. Though the focus was mainly on YouTube, and I'm not a YouTube creator, the conference planted some ideas for me and I'm looking forward to seeing what becomes of them. 

 7. I'm thankful for other social media platforms. I particularly like how easy it is to share compliments with companies. For example, I sent out this Instagram post this week:

 8. I'm thankful for a clean house. It's easier to spend time on other projects when the house is tidy.

 9. I'm thankful for the chance John and I had to spend time with family. Both his parents and mine came to visit this week, as well as one of his brothers and a sister-in-law. 

 10. I'm thankful for John. He completed a goal last Saturday, by walking out our back door and hiking to the top of a mountain. We love the closeness of the mountains to our home, and his outing proved just how near the peaks are. We are happy no matter where we are living, but we are thankful to be here.

    A nice groove, and for some reason, your posts aren't showing up in my feed -- i'm going to have to go figure out why.

      Hmm, let me know if you figure it out. When I changed the layout of the blog, some things went weird, so it might be something on my end.

    I'm so glad that you're able to write more regularly and yet feel less pressure of deadlines. I'm slowly crawling out of a pit too. That's wonderful that you're feeling more inspired!

      When I can "get ahead" by scheduling posts in advance, I find I enjoy blogging more.

    I was talking to someone about blogging and the blogosphere, (or, maybe I was thinking while alone, which can, in certain circumstance, be mistaken for 'talking to someone'); about the early days. The word provocative popped up. Its a word that I used to hear in reference to some of the Doctrine posts, back in the day.*
    Your phrase, "A groove is much nicer than a rut." surely earns the implicit compliment of being termed 'a provocative statement'.
    Now I need to go look up the two words (and, hopefully, have to learn the etymology of each, thats always a lot of fun).

      I didn't research the words prior to using them, but when I think of grooves, I think of records (playing nicely, not skipping--nor getting stuck in a rut!) and when I think of ruts, I think of a muddy road.

Ten Things of Thankful: April Showers Edition

  A red peony bud prepares to open fully  After an incredibly dry winter, we had a bit of precipitation this past week, in the form of falling snow. We didn't have much, and it didn't really stick, but we'll take water however it wants to come. Fortunately, my peonies seem unaffected by the cold snap, and are ready to put on a show here soon. 1. I'm thankful for moisture. 2. I'm thankful the flowers are still going to bloom. I don't know how the colder temperatures will affect the fruit crops. The strawberries look like they are still planning to set fruit. We'll have to see what happens with the peach, apricot, pear, and apple. (The apricot only bears heavily every other year anyway, and I think this is an "off" year--though I could be wrong.) Strawberry plants in full bloom 3. Tuesday Time to Tackle: DIY Swamp Cooler Pump Replacement

Yesterday morning, despite having the swamp cooler on all night long, we woke up to 81 degree temperatures inside the house.  John went outside to inspect and announced that the swamp cooler pump had stopped working. Fortunately, replacing the pump is a quick and simple do-it-yourself project.
