Ten Things of Thankful: Wrapping up March Edition

Right on time, March presents, "out like a lamb." High temperatures are predicted to be in the mid-60's, and the snow that fell a week ago has vanished. Flowers continue to brighten yards. I'm thankful for mild spring weather, and I'm thankful for beautiful blossoms.

 Just last month, I drove to San Diego to attend the temple with a friend of mine. This past week, my friend and her family drove to Utah and stayed with me for a couple of days. We packed a lot of fun into the short time we had, and even managed to attend a session at the Provo Temple. I'm thankful for good friends, and I'm thankful for temples.

The day that their family left, the fun continued, because another  friend arrived. We talked, talked, and talked some more, and generally had a great time catching up. I'm thankful for her friendship.

 Despite it being the week of revolving-door guests (which I thoroughly enjoyed, by the way, and am not opposed to repeating), I managed to slip in a few training runs. John and I have signed up for a half-marathon in May, so we are trying to increase our mileage. I sneaked in a 7-mile run on Thursday, and it felt good in that "wow, my legs are sore but I did it!" sort of way. I'm thankful for good health and the ability to run (albeit slowly). 

 Did you see the moon last night? I happened to be out just as it was rising over the mountains. I wished I had my camera with me, but was able to snatch a photo with my phone. Sometime, I'll need to plan ahead. I'm thankful for the beauty of a full moon.

Today and tomorrow, General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be broadcast from Salt Lake City. I invite you to watch on lds.org. I'm thankful for the messages of faith, hope, peace, and love that will be given.

 Tomorrow, of course, is Easter Sunday. I'm thankful for Jesus Christ and the infinite gift He provided for all.

 As always, I'm thankful for John. It's been a rather unique week, but whether the days are humdrum or exciting, I'm so thankful to be taking this journey with John.

    Yes, I am so thankful Josie Two Shoes is willing to set us up week after week to share the wide variety of things we all find to feel thankful for. It does my heart good to be part of this group.
    I am glad you are experiencing spring. Spring also does my heart good. The past two days have been so lovely here. 1-3 inches of snow are predicted for tomorrow. The upside---those colorful Easter eggs should be so much easier to find in the snow!

    Excellent photos. The shot of the moon is very cool, not something one can do by whipping out the phone (I suspect).
    And, of course... the Temple in Provo! (for your friends and family who might not have seen this (and my comment) in Facebook), I spent so much time in google earth street view exploring the streets of Provo that I can feel a slight flash of familiarity, though I've never been there.
    Surely there must be one of the 'vus*' to account for the memory of a place experienced only in the virtual world....

      Thanks. The photos are all from my phone, but I really wish I had had my "real" camera for the moon shot. It would have been much more clear (presumably).

    Out like a lamb here as well. A beautiful day in VA today, sunshine, everything beginning to bloom. Fingers crossed your spring is there to stay and no more snow!
    Busy you! But the good kind :)
    I did not see the moon last night and tonight is the blue moon. Alas, I am indoors and probably missed a fantastic moon rise.

    I'm exhausted from reading all you did this week! Great photo of you and John with your friends. I watched that moon as well. It popped up above the hill across the lake as we were eating supper with my dad. We have ICE in the forecast for today. Ugh! What a wacky spring! Happy Easter, Kristi!

      Zoe! It's great to see you again! There was actually a documentary about Troll 2, called "Best Worst Movie." The documentary was actually rather sad, because the director of Troll 2 was actually going for a serious movie, and was offended when it was not received as such.

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? Ten Things of Thankful: Live from Oregon, part 2

stock photo of old computer monitor When I was 10 or 11, I remember sitting next to my dad in our living room and reading computer code to him as he entered it into an Apple computer. We would finish the exercise and he would hit enter (or was it "run"?) and wait expectantly for the green type to appear on the screen. If we were lucky, the whole conversation would occur. Most often, there would be an error either in my dictation of the code, or in the typing of the code. We would then go painstakingly back through the lines, character by character, to find and correct the error. After what seemed like hours (and might have been), we would succeed and the computer would finally run the entire program. It was magical! Ten Things of Thankful: Oregon Edition, Part 3

  A western bluebird, sitting at the base of a house window, looks inside Thanks (1) to those who have sent well-wishes for my mom's recovery. Her wrist is healing up nicely. I met a friend from high school for lunch this past week. It was so nice to have a chance to visit with her for a couple of hours. She is one of those friends who it doesn't matter how much time has passed, we can pick right back up into meaningful conversations.
