We Went to the Zoo, and I Forgot to Take Photos of Animals

Last Friday, before the excitement John and I had later that evening, we spent the day at the zoo with our daughters and grandchildren.  Though I love the zoo, the main attraction for me was my family.  As I was looking through my photos, I realized I didn't take any photos of animals.  I did, however, take some of my grandchildren!

I did not do a good job with capturing smiles, but I promise that everyone had a good time!  This next photo collage cracks me up, both for the photo light exposure problem, and for the stiff method of sliding and facial expressions (or lack thereof) of my granddaughter.  You can't tell at all from the photos, but she LOVED the slide.  She climbed up and slid down, over and over and over again, and each time she had the same way of sliding. The technique was so contrary to how much she enjoyed it; it just made us all chuckle to watch her.  

When I saw this photo of oldest granddaughter, I couldn't believe just how much she looks like her mom did:

It's hard to believe, but our grandson just had his first birthday.  He looks even older than that in this photo, I think:

    Well, there is a giraffe in one of them?! Maybe plastic, but stil.... Love the pics of your family. You are one rich woman.
    (sorry for not-visiting lately. Busy with work around the house and exhausted when the day is done. Not been blogging for a while too now. Sorry)

      Good point! I guess I did get a photo of an animal. :-)
      I've noticed you've been gone, but was hoping it was just because you were busy with real life. I bet your house is really looking great!

    I think you aimed your camera in the right direction! Down the road, the memories of this wonderful time together will be shared and revisited with your lovely pictures. Such beautiful grandchildren you have, they truly look like little cherubs! <3

      Thank you. I agree that photos of the grandchildren definitely mean more to me than any photo of zoo animals!

    Photos of family are much more important than photos of the animals! I LOVE the photo of them smiling!

Ten Things of Thankful: April Showers Edition

  A red peony bud prepares to open fully  After an incredibly dry winter, we had a bit of precipitation this past week, in the form of falling snow. We didn't have much, and it didn't really stick, but we'll take water however it wants to come. Fortunately, my peonies seem unaffected by the cold snap, and are ready to put on a show here soon. 1. I'm thankful for moisture. 2. I'm thankful the flowers are still going to bloom. I don't know how the colder temperatures will affect the fruit crops. Monday Mentions: Equate Crutches

Have you ever needed crutches? I hadn't, until a week ago.  I'm pretty sure I strained a muscle while running a half-marathon.  (That sounds kind of cool, doesn't it? I'm not actually that cool; the last time I strained a muscle it was from carrying too many shopping bags at once.) In any case, I found myself in need of some crutches. I sent my husband to the store to get some.
