No, this will not be my next project.  Nor the next.  Nor the next.  It does, however, make me smile.  I don't think I've ever seen a cheerier toilet.

Adults Need Recess, Too

Saturday was a "circle of life" type day.  I attended a baby shower in the morning, a memorial service in the afternoon, and a dinner party in the evening.  I also had a houseful of college kids staying for the weekend.

The memorial service brought to the forefront of my mind just how precious those other events are.  The memorial service was a celebration of life in honor of Alice, a woman who brought smiles and good cheer wherever she went, and the service reflected her good nature.

Attending the dinner party that evening, I realized that I don't spend nearly enough time socializing with friends "just because."  Much of my socializing is done during purpose-driven activities, and I realize that adults need recess, too.  The dinner party was just the ticket.  Collectively, I think we were the best comedy club in town.  We laughed until we cried, and then we laughed some more.

I think Alice would have approved.

January Showers Bring February Flowers?

The daffodils in the front are blooming, the hyacinths in the back are just opening up, the apricot tree is popping its popcorn, and the dandelions in the lawn are showing their sunny little faces.  I remember being asked by a cute little girl years ago, "Mommy, why did God put dandelion flowers on weeds?"  Why, indeed?  (Probably the same reason he put cheery yellow flowers on scotch broom!)

I'm a Dabble Blogger!

I've been toying for some time now with the idea of creating a blog, and finally decided to take the plunge. I might mention a book I've read, but I don't anticipate any deep insights worthy of a book club discussion.   I might report on a new recipe or two along the way, but I'm not systematically making my way through a particular cookbook in a year's time.  Crafts?  If I ever finish knitting the creche I've been working on for years, I will certainly let you know.  I love my family, my basset hound, homeschooling, gardening, family history, traveling, music, and Disneyland, and I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  This blog will be a little of this and a little of that.  I'm a dabble blogger!  Feel free to follow along if your interests are as scattered as mine.  :-)
