June Photo Challenge

I just recently learned about this monthly photo challenge, and jumped at the chance to participate.  June's theme was "Anything Goes," which meant I could pick whatever subject I wanted.  I decided to capture some of the sights at the Los Angeles Temple grounds and visitor's center.  Hope you enjoy the beauty found there!

I Believe (A New Series of Posts): Traditional Marriage

Twenty years ago, church leadership felt inspired to compose The Family:  A Proclamation to the World.  I had no idea then that the short phrase, "between a man and a woman" would be so controversial that a Supreme Court case would be heard about the definition of marriage.

WE, THE FIRST PRESIDENCY and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children.

TToT: Ten Things of Significance

Last week, Dyanne invited me to play a game, a kind of show and tell where I would share ten things in my home that hold significance to me.  I'm not great I'm pretty terrible about choosing favorites, so while I can guarantee that each of these items is important to me, I am not saying these are the most significant items--though they do represent things, such as family and faith, that are most important to me.

Formerly Shy Child Now Speaking Up

When I was a very young child, one of my favorite stories was about Katy, the shy kangaroo, who just wanted to spend time with her mom every day.  I think it was a favorite because I could relate. I have memories of the neighborhood kids asking me what my name was, and calling me, "Twisty."  No matter how many times I repeated myself, they laughed, and still got it wrong. My mom always got my name right, and she didn't laugh at me.

Ten Things of Thankful: A Happy Houseful

We started this week with 4 people in the house, we ended with 9. Between Father's Day tomorrow, and oldest daughter's best friend's wedding this afternoon, our home has become the gathering spot, and I'm loving it!

TToT: Rain, Running, Rest

It's time once again for the Ten Things of Thankful.  I look forward each week to remembering.  There is always good to be found, always tender mercies to be discovered.  I enjoy reading the expressions of gratitude that other TToT participants write.  Won't you join us?

Six Sentence Story: Check

I'm joining in again with Six Sentence Stories this week.  I've told this story before, but in different sentences.  It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the prompt:  Check.

Ten Things of Thankful: Week of No Vacation

Unlike the past couple of weeks, I did not travel anyplace this week.  No Oregon, no San Francisco, not even Disneyland. However, do not mistakenly think that I enjoyed a lazy week.  Au contraire.  My week was full, but not with tasks that would really interest readers--unless balancing the checkbook, doing laundry, and other similar jobs sound like fun to you.  However, I'm still as thankful as ever. That's the thing about thankfulness:  it's not dependent upon vacations or any other thing.  It's an attitude that makes life better, no matter what that life looks like.

FTSF: The World Really Needs More Strong Families

I "met" Kristi of Finding Ninee through the Ten Things of Thankful blog hop.  I immediately liked her--we shared a name, after all!  I found her to be compassionate and determined in her role as mom to Tucker.  I knew about her Finish the Sentence Fridays, but I don't know why I haven't joined in before now. When I saw today's prompt, though, I knew exactly what I wanted to write about.
