June 2015 Visiting Teaching Message

This month's visiting teaching message looks at another attribute of Jesus Christ:  virtue.

Ten Things of Thankful: Another Action-Packed Week, but in a Good Way

Last week, I was thankful for bruises that weren't breaks.  This week wasn't quite as adventurous as last, but I'm still a bit dizzy in the Wow has it just been a week since. . .   sort of way.

Six Sentence Story: Rush Delivery

I'm attempting something new today, and joining up with the Six Sentence Story hop.  This week's theme is Rush.

DIY Patriotic Wreath from 99¢ Store Materials

I like to decorate for the holidays, but I don't like spending lots of money to do so.  Recently, I put together a red, white, and blue door wreath using supplies gathered at the local 99¢ Store.

Ten Things of Thankful: Humpty Dumpty, Surgery, Scrabble, and Long-Lost Friends

One of my favorite childhood books was From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.   Two siblings run away from home and live at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.  They avoid the museum staff and enjoy a comfortable existence until. . . well, I can't give the whole plot away, can I?  Anyway, this week I was still in Oregon for part of the week.  While I was away, John, youngest son, and youngest daughter almost had their own protagonist moment.

Ten Things of Thankful: Oregon in Photos

Every time I come to Oregon, the damp green surroundings soothe my soul.  I soak up the scenery, tucking away the memories to take out and replay in my mind when I return to my desert home.

Quotes from April 2015 General Conference

Each April and October, General Conference for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints takes place.  I enjoy listening to the various talks.  Soon after the conference is over, I can review what I heard by reading the transcripts of the talks .

Ten Things of Thankful: Party Time!

This week marks the 100th week of the Ten Things of Thankful Blog Hop.  It's party time!

I'm Not Sure Where Mustaches Fit In

My friend ( and long-lost cousin ) Dyanne  tagged me to answer some questions.  And just right now, I figured out how mustaches fit it!  I must ask you some questions.   Must ask=mustache, get it? Boy, I am slow.  And too lazy to change the post title.   Want to learn more about me?  Read on:

Ten Things of Thankful: Barry White, Darth Vader, and Captain Hook

How's that for a title?  If this were Jeopardy , the correct question for the answer, "Barry White, Darth Vader, and Captain Hook" would be:  "Which individuals portrayed the progression of John's illness this week?"

DIY College Finals Survival Kit

For the past eight years, John and I have been parents of college students.  Even though our children are the students, we have learned a thing or two, also.  For instance, I've learned that the kids love to receive finals survival kits, and that the most appreciated items are edible.

Ten Things of Thankful: Apparently, I Do Like Cruising

Last week, I took a break.  I continued to blog, only because I had pre-scheduled posts for the A-Z Challenge.  I even wrote my Ten Things of Thankful in advance.  During that week, John and I celebrated our 28th anniversary by going on our first cruise.  We turned off our cell phones.  We left the computers behind.  We lived life, unplugged.  This week I've just been readjusting to "normal" life, but I still have things to say about our cruise, so this TToT post will be my own version of the vacation slide show of yesteryear.  (I won't claim to be as entertaining as Charles Phoenix , but hopefully you'll want to stick around anyway.)
