Ten Things of Thankful: What a Wonderful World Edition

Here it is, in the wee hours of the morning on Saturday, and I realize not only do I need to sleep  write a TToT post, I really should have posted more on the blog this week.  Life has been busy--not in a frantic, worried, all-encompassing sort of way, but rather in a "I think to myself, 'What a wonderful world' " sort of way.   Now that you've got Satchmo's song in your mind, let's get on to the list:

Ten Things of Thankful: Look, We're on a Roll! Edition

Another Saturday, another race.  That makes me sound like a hard-core runner, but don't be fooled.  I'm not a real runner, I just play one in real life.  :-)   Honestly, do I look like a serious runner?  No!

It's Not Wednesday, But I'm Still Just Posting a Photo

AKA:  There's no such thing as too many photos of sleeping dogs.   Thanks for dogs that are buddies.

Ten Things of Thankful: Up and Running Again Edition

I know I'm arriving late to the party, and I won't make it around to all the posts until after the link has closed, but I'm here now and looking forward to celebrating another thankful week with all of you.

A Call for One Thousand Bloggers

The mastermind behind the Ten Things of Thankful blog hop, Lizzi  , recently invited me to a new facebook page, 1000 Voices for Compassion.  The description of the group is: Let's get 1000 bloggers to write posts about compassion, kindness, support, caring for others, n on-judgement, care for the environment etc, and ALL PUBLISH ON THE SAME DAY (Feb 20th) to flood the Blogosphere with GOOD! Use the hashtag #1000Speak to promote this event Won't you join us?  I will confess, I hesitated at first, wondering if by joining I would be inadvertently mistaken for supporting agendas different than my own. Then I thought " compassion ." This is not about politics, governments, or programs.  This is about an inner characteristic.   I thought about this post  I wrote.  We have great need for compassion in this world.  Regardless of differences of opinion about how to translate compassion into action, most people would agree that compassion itself is a virtue.   Count me in

Monday Musing: Far Below Inadequate Can Be Enough

Do you ever observe needs that are too great for you to fill?  Are you ever overwhelmed by the problems of the world and feel helpless to solve them?

Ten Things of Thankful: What a Difference a Week Makes Edition

I'm writing this on Friday, January 9th, and am rather amazed at how much (and how little) can happen in just one week's time.

Visiting Teaching Message January 2015

This month's visiting teaching message focuses on Jesus Christ and the example he set of obedience.  Being obedient does not mean that life will be trouble-free, but obedience does bring blessings. Thanks for the strength that comes from obedience to God.

Ten Things of Thankful: Endings and Beginnings

This week began with endings, and ended with beginnings.  Not only did we see 2014 draw to a close, we welcomed in 2015.  It was a week to reflect back and look ahead.

Why It's OK to Make (the Same) Resolutions Yet Again

January 1st:  a day a resolutions.  Often, a day to dust off last year's resolutions and begin anew.  This "wash, rinse, repeat" method of goal-setting tends to bring guilt to some, and to make others throw up their hands and say, "Forget it!" To any of you who wish the focus on resolutions would just go away, might I suggest a different perspective? ". . . by  small  and   simple   things  are great  things   brought to pass. . ."
