Ten Things of Thankful: Anniversary Edition

Jumping right in this week: 1. I'm thankful that John and I do not play games like this:

Throwback Thursday: 27 Years Ago Today, I Married My Best Friend

John graduated from Brigham Young University exactly one week before our wedding. We were young, in love, and had our lives in front of us.

(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday: Butterflies (or Maybe Moths) Everywhere!

These pretty creatures are swarming all over the hedge in my front yard. I feel like I'm part of a Disney animated movie! Thanks for creatures, great and small.

Tuesday Time to Tackle: How to Sleep Like a Baby

My sweet, adorable granddaughters came over yesterday to stay with us for a while. The last time they were here, John and I clearly were not up-to-date with infant and toddler "sleep" routines. Our oldest granddaughter protested the idea of sleeping in a crib in the guest room, even though we had a baby monitor to alert us each time she awakened. Both of the girls treated time at Grandpa's and Grandma's house more like a slumber party rather than the "nighttime is for sleeping" concept to which we old folks subscribe. We knew we'd have to adapt the routine this time if we wanted any shut-eye.

All the Things of Thankful: Because of Him

Because of Him, life has meaning, purpose, and direction. Because of Him, I can trust in His timing and reasons, and patiently wait for understanding. Because of Him, I can feel peace in the midst of storms. Because of Him, I try to look beyond the "now" to a more eternal perspective. Because of Him, I can feel joy. Happy Easter! He is risen! Thanks for the Savior of the world.

Your hosts A Fly on our (Chicken Coop) Wall , Amycake and the Dude</ a>, Considerings , Finding Nin

Ten Things of Thankful: Youngest Son Edition

This post is the last (for the year) in the series of "It's my kid's birthday!" posts. Thank you for indulging me. I'm fortunate to be Mom to such great individuals.

Throwback Thursday: My Great-Grandma Kimes

My mom with her Grandma Kimes None of my great-grandparents were still alive by the time I was born, so I have had to learn of them from my own parents' memories.

(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday: Singing in Spring

Singing in The Flower Fields, Carlsbad, CA Thanks for the sounds and sights of spring.

Ten Things of Thankful: April 2014 Conference Edition

It's time for another Ten Things of Thankful post, and I am so excited! Before I started my blog, I thought long and hard about what to call it. I wanted a name that would not change with circumstance, but something that would be long-lasting and would serve me not only then, but in the future. I decided upon the affirming, "Thankful Me." It served as a reminder to myself not to complain--at least not too much, and particularly not online. I, though non-tattooed, essentially branded myself. I am Thankful.

it's a small world after all

"It's a small world" (Disney does not capitalize the ride's name) premiered at the World's Fair in April of 1964. Nearly ten years later, in December of 1973, I visited Disneyland for the first time, and experienced for myself small world's journey around the world. I don't vividly remember much about that vacation, but I do recall the anticipation and excitement of riding "it's a small world." I also remember my mom really enjoyed the attraction. She might have even gotten teary-eyed.

(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday: The Poppies are Blooming!

Thanks for last month's rains, and for the colorful hillsides.

Tuesday Time to Tackle: Homemade Finals Survival Kits

I have been blogging for quite some time now, and I'm always curious to see which posts receive the most views. My top ten most popular posts of all time are generally posts containing visiting teaching handouts--with one exception. Apparently, there are moms looking for a DIY version of college finals survival kits, because this post made the top ten.

Ten Things of Thankful: Youngest Daughter Edition

My youngest daughter's birthday is coming up soon. I gave her a choice: either she would let me say all sorts of wonderful things about her on my TToT post, or she would write her TToT for me to post on my blog. I'm a mean mom that way.

(Nearly) Wordless Wednesday: April Snow Dusting

It's not much, but Mother Nature sent an April Fool's joke. Not only did we get some rain (thanks!) , but the hills even got a dusting of snow. Thanks for the wet stuff that fell from the sky. In this drought year, we can use every drop.
