Thursday Thoughts: Woolzies Giveaway

Have you ever learned a new word, then noticed it in practically every conversation you had and article you read?  Recently I had the same experience, except instead of new vocabulary, I learned a new laundry method.

Tuesday Time to Tackle: Indoor Plumbing (Please!)

I'm writing this on Monday, fully hoping that if I write it, it will come.  Last Wednesday, we called a plumber after noticing that our front yard had a spring flowing through it.  We live in the desert, so running water normally calls for celebration.  Not this time.

Monday Morning in the Kitchen: Watermelon Radish

I participate in a produce co-op, and I never know what I'm going to receive in my box.  Sometimes, I end up discovering new-to-me varieties of fruits and vegetables.

Sunday Musings of the Spirit: February Visiting Teaching Message

February's visiting teaching message talks about how visiting teachers have an opportunity to develop friendships with the sisters they visit, and how friendship can be a real strength to all.

Friday Family History: I Know My Sister is Nicer Now

Last week, I confessed to a not-so-nice game of Hide and Seek.  Instead of relating redemptive tales now, to show how much I have matured, I've decided to tattle on my sister.  Nyah-nyah.

Thursday Thoughts: Heigh-Ho, Whistle While You Work, and Other Motivation to Exercise

I'm a big fan of Disneyland.  (In fact, I'm wearing my Mickey Mouse sweatshirt as I compose this post.)  I love the cleanliness of the park, the smiles on the cast members' faces, and the music throughout the lands.  I love the fact that I can know Disneyland like the back of my hand, yet still see new details each time I visit.

Sunday Musings of the Spirit: Patience

We're several weeks into the new year now.  How are you doing with your resolutions?  If you have "slipped up," don't despair.  Part of Hebrews 12:1 says, "let us run with patience the race that is set before us."  No need to quit the race; just keep plugging along.

Friday Family History: I Hope I'm Nicer Now

My little sister arrived on the scene when I was four and a half years old.  (Remember when ages were stated in half-years?)

Thursday Thoughts: What I Did Last Sunday

A few days ago, Debbie from Our Old Homestead invited me to a game of "Sunday Activity Tag." The topic reminds me of the papers elementary school children write each September:  "What I Did This Summer."  Fortunately for me, I only have to remember back to last Sunday, and my Sundays have basically the same routine each week.  Sundays for me mean church and family time, and this Sunday followed the same pattern.

Tuesday Time to Tackle: Yet Another Blanket

I spent some time yesterday organizing the closet where I keep my fabric.  After straightening it out a bit, I thought I should probably try to make a dent in the stash.

Monday Morning in the Kitchen: Hearty Vegetable Soup

Winter weather demands steaming bowls of hot soup.  This recipe whips up in no time, with ingredients commonly found in the pantry.

Sunday Musings of the Spirit: Strengthened Through Trials

The challenges of life try our faith, patience, and resolve, yet we grow the most during those times of trial.

Friday Family History: Family Migrations

My mom recently decided to order an Ancestry DNA test.  She has spent the past 35 years or so researching family history, and she has a pretty good knowledge of where her ancestors lived.  Still, she was curious to see what she would learn from the test.

Thursday Thoughts: On Raising (and Saying Goodbye) to Guide Dog Puppies

In August of 2011, my sweet basset hound passed away unexpectedly at the veterinarian's office.  Suddenly, I found myself dog-free for the first time in 19 years.  This would just not do.

Tuesday Time to Tackle: Comparing Pharmacies

Often it seems that saving money means spending time.  Every so often, though, just a little bit of time spent researching ends up saving both money and time.

Sunday Musings of the Spirit: Blessing Day

Today we traveled to go to church with our daughter and sweet granddaughter, so that John could bless the baby.

Tuesday Time to Tackle: 2013
